Matthew 16:26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
I don’t want gain the whole world and lose my soul. – Lyrics of a song by one of my favorite Christian Artists Toby Mac. And it is truth. It is life. No there isn’t anything worth more than your soul. Than your eternity or your relationship with the Heavenly Father.
This world says all roads lead to Heaven. But my Bible says there is only ONE WAY.
Jesus is it. Nothing in this fake world can satisfy me, can give me what my Heavenly Father can.
For those of you that say, “But the Bible says to go into the world”. Yes it does. But the verse doesn’t end there. Matthew 28:19-20 – So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have taught you, and I will be with you always, even until the end of this age.”
People need to understand, satan wants us to give in to the things in this world. To the tempations that are out there. He wants us to stumble and fall. When we become Christians we are no longer in the family of the devil. And that is exactly what he DOESN’T WANT.
Deuteronomy 4:29 But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.
Deuteronomy 6:5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
Joshua 22:5 But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.
Psalms 19:7 The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
Psalms 84:2 I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God
Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
These are all beautiful verses about our soul and what God has done for us. BUT it doesn’t end there.
Proverbs 24:12 Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.” For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew. He will repay all people as their actions deserve.
Now that is WOW. We don’t have an excuse. God sees. He knows our heart. And look guys, it is just NOT WORTH IT. To gain this world and lose all of this that we get from God and from our relationship with Him.
Now how do we keep our life and heart focused on God? How do we watch our soul. Luke 21:19 By standing firm, you will win your souls. 1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. We are to watch. Because this world and things in this world are going to try to pull us away from God. But we need to be strong and courageous. For He is FAITHFUL.
We use His word to help us. It has such power. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
If we choose to cut things out of our life it will help us to stand firm by the grace of God. James 1:21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
So for today and everyday. I hope you stop and think. Is this worth it? Does this help me stand firm? Will this make me lose my soul? And go around singing and thinking, I don’t wanna gain the whole world and lose my soul. It just ain’t worth it.
