New Artist To Watch #2 Eowyn

Eowyn – And no I’m not talking about the Lord of the Rings princess in waiting. Now known to some of us who love the rock indie vibe, Eowyn is a rocker chick with a producer who has produced the likes of P.O.D., Disciple, and Pillar. Some of my favorite sounds. Pillar has been a favorite group of mine since I was a tween, but I digress.
Loving the woman rock vibe that comes from things Eowyn does. Now, compared to some of her older headbanging rock ballad, she has exchanged some of her edgier sounds for piano-driven hooks and piercing vocals.
A time and time again theme in her music is reliance on God.
A popular song from one of her albums is “Beautiful Ashes”.
Here is the chorus:
When the darkness overwhelms you
And you feel like no one cares
Do not fear
There is a God who loves you
And he is taking your hands
Now for those of you who know me, you know I’m a rock girl. But let’s see the meaning behind the artist. What gets her going. What is she about besides having awesome sounds.
“This was supposed to be my acoustic album,
but it obviously came out a little differently.
I just kept hunting for music that felt like it
represented where I am today, and lyrics
that told not only my story, but others around me.
I feel this album does just that!
Although my style has changed up just a bit
for this album, my ministry never will.
I do it all to offer hope to those who are struggling
and point them to the ultimate hope…
Jesus Christ. I put out my first album at 19,
and now as I’m releasing my 6th,
I realise that in every album God has shown me
a little bit more of Himself and a little more
of who He wants me to be!
I pray that anyone who listens to my music
will truly feel God’s love in the midst of
anything they may be facing!”
 – Eowyn
Believe is the song she is talking about in the quote above. And then I fell in love with the lyrics of the song!
But when I begin to fall apart
I’ll remember you loved me from the start
And I’ll just believe that what I need is always what you said
And I’ll just believe
I’ll wait and see my miracles ahead. – for her personal website and information to listen to Are You 4 Real and other programs on our Bible Radio.
